Import AliExpress Reviews to Shopify: 4 Methods and What to Watch For

Four ways to bring AliExpress reviews into your Shopify store, what each one actually imports, and why imported reviews should be a bridge to your own, not your review strategy.

The four methods at a glance

  1. Method 1Review app importerPaste the AliExpress URL. Text, ratings, and photos, depending on the app.
  2. Method 2CSV uploadEdit a file, then upload it. Full control over what goes live.
  3. Method 3Copy and pasteA few hand-picked reviews in your theme. Free but manual.
  4. Method 4Page importBuyer photos from photo reviews land on your page’s review cards.

Can you import AliExpress reviews to Shopify?

Yes. The most common way is a review app with an AliExpress importer: you paste the AliExpress product URL, pick the Shopify product, filter what to bring in, and the reviews appear in your product page's review widget. You can also upload a CSV file, copy reviews in by hand, or start from a page builder that pulls the buyer photos from the listing. The catch is that those reviews describe another seller's listing, not your store, so use them carefully.

Four ways to import AliExpress reviews

Each method brings something different across. Here is what it does, and what to watch for.

01

Use a review app importer

Apps such as Judge.me, Loox, Fera, and Trustoo document an AliExpress import. You install the app, open its importer or browser extension, paste the AliExpress product URL, choose the Shopify product, apply filters such as rating or photos, and import. Judge.me lists its Ali Reviews Importer as free on the Shopify App Store at the time of writing.

Watch out: Import limits, pricing, and features change, and you are tied to that app’s review widget.

02

Upload a CSV file

Most review apps accept a CSV with fields such as rating, review text, reviewer name, date, and the product each review belongs to. Some importers can also export a CSV, and Judge.me lists CSV export for use with other review platforms. This suits you if you want to edit the list before anything goes live.

Watch out: Column formats differ between apps, so download the app’s template first.

03

Copy and paste by hand

Copy a handful of relevant reviews into a review or testimonial section in your theme or page builder. You get total control, and it works for a landing page with a few hand-picked quotes.

Watch out: No widget, no automatic sync, and it is easy to misquote or misattribute. Never change what a reviewer wrote.

04

Build the page from an AliExpress link

When you paste an AliExpress link into PagePilot, it builds the product page and pulls the buyer photos from the listing’s photo reviews into the page’s review cards, so the layout is not empty at launch. It is not a review platform. It does not copy written reviews or ratings, and it does not collect reviews from your own customers.

Watch out: The text on the cards is generated placeholder copy. Replace it with real customer feedback, and use a review app if you want imported review text and ratings.

Should you import AliExpress reviews at all?

It can help a new product page look less empty. It also comes with real problems, and most guides skip them.

Why people do it

  • An empty product page has no social proof, and shoppers look for photos of the real item.
  • Buyer photos show colour, size, and quality better than supplier images.
  • It is quick, so you can test a product before any orders arrive.

Why to be careful

  • They are about another seller’s listing. Comments on shipping, packaging, and service do not describe your store.
  • The content is messy: machine-translated text, other brands’ names, wrong variants, and delivery complaints.
  • Reviewers own their words and photos, and you may not have the right to reuse them on your own store.
  • If several stores import the same product, the same reviews appear on all of them, and shoppers can notice.

The rules to know

Consumer-protection rules apply to reviews. In the US, the FTC's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials, in effect since October 2024, prohibits fake or false reviews that misrepresent someone's actual experience. It also covers offering incentives for positive reviews and suppressing negative ones. Many other markets have their own rules. Never present imported reviews as reviews of your store, and never write or edit reviews to make them sound better. This is general information, not legal advice, so check the rules where you sell.

How to curate what you import

If you do import reviews, filter for relevance, not for flattery.

Get your own reviews faster

Imported reviews are a bridge. The goal is to replace them with reviews from customers who bought from you.

  • Ask after delivery, not after the order. Shipping from overseas suppliers is slow, so a request sent at checkout arrives before the product does. Trigger it from the delivered status or a set number of days after the delivery estimate.
  • Ask every customer, not just the happy ones.
  • Make photo reviews easy with a short, mobile-friendly form and one clear link.
  • If you offer an incentive, disclose it and never tie it to a positive review.
  • Reply to every review, including critical ones. It shows that a real person runs the store.

Where PagePilot fits

PagePilot builds the product page. Paste an AliExpress link and it creates a branded Shopify page with the listing's photos and variants, rewritten copy, and the buyer photos in your review cards. It is not a review app, so pair it with one if you want review text, ratings, and automatic review requests. The AliExpress to Shopify guide shows what the import brings across, and pricing covers the plans.

Import AliExpress reviews FAQ

How do you import AliExpress reviews to Shopify?

The most common way is a review app with an AliExpress importer. Install the app, open its importer or browser extension, paste the AliExpress product URL, choose the Shopify product the reviews belong to, filter by rating or photos, and import. You can also upload a CSV file or copy a few reviews in by hand. Whichever method you use, read the reviews before you publish them, because they describe another seller’s listing, not your store.

Can you import AliExpress reviews to Shopify for free?

Often, yes. Some review apps list their AliExpress importer as free, for example Judge.me’s Ali Reviews Importer at the time of writing, and a CSV upload or manual copy costs nothing beyond your time. Free plans and import limits change, so check each app’s current terms. Free does not remove the other issues: the reviews still belong to another listing and should not be your long-term social proof.

What is an AliExpress review importer?

It is a tool, usually part of a review app or a browser extension, that copies reviews from an AliExpress product page into the reviews on a Shopify product. Depending on the tool it can bring across star ratings, review text, dates, reviewer names, and photos, and it often lets you filter by rating or by whether a review has photos.

How do you add AliExpress reviews to Shopify without an app?

Copy the reviews you want into a review or testimonial section in your theme or page builder by hand, or prepare a CSV file and upload it to a review app that accepts CSV. Manual copying gives you full control over which reviews appear, but it takes time and gives you no review widget, no automatic sync, and no automatic review requests.

Does PagePilot import AliExpress reviews?

Partly. When you build a page from an AliExpress link, PagePilot brings the buyer photos from the listing’s photo reviews into the page’s review cards. It does not copy the written text or ratings of AliExpress reviews, and the text on the cards is generated placeholder copy for you to replace with real customer feedback. If you want imported review text and ratings in a review widget, use a review app importer.

Is it okay to use AliExpress reviews on your own store?

It is a grey area, so be careful. The reviews are real buyers talking about another seller’s listing, not your store, and the reviewers own their words and photos. Consumer-protection rules, including the FTC’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials in the US, target reviews that misrepresent who wrote them or what they are about. Use imported reviews sparingly as a launch placeholder, do not rewrite or invent them, and replace them with reviews from your own customers. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can you import reviews from AliExpress and Amazon?

Some review apps import from several marketplaces, so check the sources an app lists before you install it. The same cautions apply to any imported review, and each marketplace has its own terms for its content, so check them before you copy anything.
