A merchant can ask ChatGPT or Claude to find a product and generate a PagePilot product page. From there, they can rewrite the headline, change prices or variants, generate images, and publish to a connected Shopify store.

One distinction matters throughout this guide. MCP is for building and shipping pages quickly. The PagePilot dashboard is still where you handle deeper design, section layout and fine-tuning. MCP does not replace the dashboard.
What Is PagePilot MCP?
PagePilot MCP is an MCP server. It lets a connected AI assistant reach specific PagePilot tools and carry out PagePilot actions from a written request.
MCP itself isn't specific to PagePilot. It's an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools, described in the Model Context Protocol specification. PagePilot's implementation applies that standard to page building, editing and Shopify publishing.
In practice, PagePilot MCP turns a chat window into a working interface for PagePilot. You describe the outcome, and the assistant calls the right PagePilot tool instead of you clicking through screens.
Is There a Shopify Page Builder With an MCP Server?
Absolutely. PagePilot runs a Shopify MCP server that lets ChatGPT, Claude and other compatible clients call its page-building, editing and publishing tools directly.
That differs from using an AI Shopify page builder only through its own interface. With an MCP for Shopify connection, a compatible external assistant can call supported PagePilot tools directly.
Does PagePilot Work With ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. PagePilot currently provides step-by-step setup for three clients: ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code. Other MCP-compatible clients, including Cursor, can also connect.
It's accurate to say PagePilot MCP works with ChatGPT and Claude. PagePilot isn't currently listed in the official OpenAI or Anthropic connector directories, though. It wouldn't be accurate to say you can install it from a ChatGPT app store or a Claude connector list. You add it manually, using the setup page below.
A PagePilot ChatGPT connection needs one extra step: turning on Developer Mode first, or it won't work. A PagePilot Claude connection, through Claude or Claude Code, skips that step entirely.
How Do I Connect PagePilot MCP?
Everything you need lives on the MCP setup page. It generates your PagePilot API key automatically and gives copy-paste configuration for your specific AI client.
The setup flow:
Log into your PagePilot account and open the MCP setup page.
Let the page generate your API key. This happens automatically, with no separate request.
Copy the configuration shown for your client (ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code).
Paste it into your assistant's MCP or connector settings.
For ChatGPT, turn on Developer Mode first, or the connection won't work.
Send a test prompt, such as asking it to list your PagePilot pages.
There's no waitlist, no invite requirement and no separate approval step. PagePilot MCP has been openly available since August 2026, so any PagePilot user can connect it today.
A Shopify store connection is separate from MCP setup. PagePilot MCP cannot connect a Shopify store on its own. You need to link your store inside the PagePilot dashboard first, before an assistant can publish anything to it.
What Can I Do With PagePilot MCP?

MCP covers the build-and-publish workflow. A separate set of tasks still lives in the dashboard only:
- adding, removing or reordering sections
- changing colours, fonts or broader design settings
- editing SEO settings
- creating advertorials or standalone pages
- using Creative Studio or ad-creative tools
- uploading your own images
- browsing the template gallery
- connecting a Shopify store
- deleting or duplicating pages
PagePilot MCP handles much of the build-and-publish workflow. The dashboard remains the place for visual design, section-level changes and deeper page configuration. Treat MCP as a fast path to a working page, not a full replacement for the editor.

Product research is usually the starting point for a PagePilot MCP session.

Can AI build a Shopify product page for you? Certainly. An AI product page builder connected through MCP can generate a page from a product link. You set the language, angle and template in your request.

PagePilot MCP can select a template when you name it exactly. Current options include Bloom, Greens, Honey, Clarity, Aura, Legacy, Stone, Cotton and any templates saved to your own account. You can't browse the template gallery from chat, so you need to know the name first. Leave it unspecified and PagePilot uses whichever template you used most recently.
Language works the same way. PagePilot MCP supports the same 33 languages available in the dashboard. English is the default, and Arabic pages get right-to-left layout automatically.

Can I Change Prices and Variants Through ChatGPT?
Yes, both are supported, and they're handled as two separate kinds of request.
Pricing:
- "What's the price on this page?"
- "Set the price to 29.99 and the compare-at price to 49.99 for all variants."
- "Make 'Red / Large' 34.99 and clear its compare-at price."
Changing a price through MCP changes the PagePilot page first, not the live Shopify product. The Shopify store only updates once you publish the revised page.
Variants:

- "Keep all existing colors and sizes, and add Blue in the same existing size combinations."
- "Rename option 'Colour' to 'Color.'"
Be precise when editing variants. PagePilot treats a variant change as the complete list you want to keep, not an addition to what's already there. An instruction like "remove Red" is specific enough. But "make the sizes S and M" can quietly remove every other size that existed before. Say explicitly if you want the rest kept.
Shopify's own documentation describes variants as distinct product versions separated by options like size or color. Each one carries its own SKU and price, and PagePilot MCP works at that same level.
Can AI Generate Product Images for My Shopify Page?
Yes. You can ask PagePilot MCP to generate new AI product images or check how many you have left this month.
- "Generate three lifestyle images for this product."
- "How many AI images can I still generate this month?"
- "Replace the second image, leave the rest of the gallery alone."
A single request can generate up to four images. For a bigger batch, send a follow-up request. AI images created through MCP draw from the same monthly allowance as dashboard images, so the count moves together across both.
Because image generation spends PagePilot credits, the assistant asks for approval before generating them.
Can PagePilot MCP Publish Directly to Shopify?
Yes, once a store is already connected. This is where a ChatGPT Shopify integration through PagePilot MCP earns its place: a page can go live without leaving the chat.

- "Update the product I already published, instead of creating a new one."
You can publish to Shopify from ChatGPT this way, but the store must already be linked inside the PagePilot dashboard. MCP can retrieve connected stores and publish to them. It can't create that connection itself.
Publishing can still fail for reasons that have nothing to do with MCP. A few common ones:
- The store is using Shopify's Starter plan, which doesn't provide the theme-editing access PagePilot publishing requires.
- The store is frozen over an unpaid Shopify bill.
- The store isn't connected to your PagePilot account yet.
- Your PagePilot account itself is still on the free plan.
- You're trying to update a Shopify product that's since been deleted. Publish it again as a new product instead of asking for an update.
If PagePilot created the Shopify product before, publishing that same PagePilot page again updates the existing product automatically. You don't need to find and paste a Shopify product ID for that to work. You can also explicitly ask PagePilot to publish it as a new product instead, if that's what you want.
What Happens Before PagePilot MCP Changes Something?
Claude and ChatGPT flag PagePilot write actions for approval before they run, and that covers copy changes, prices, variants, images and publishing. You can turn on an "always allow" option if you don't want to approve each one individually.
PagePilot adds its own checks on top of that. It reads the current page before changing it and asks before spending AI image credits. It also backs up an existing Shopify product before overwriting it.
Do I Need a Paid PagePilot Plan?
Anyone can connect PagePilot MCP. Page creation, product research, AI image generation and Shopify publishing all require an active paid plan, starting at Lite.
The MCP connection itself is free to set up; those actions use the same paid PagePilot access as the dashboard.
What Are the Plan Limits for PagePilot MCP?
Limits through MCP mirror the limits in the dashboard, since it's the same underlying account.
Page creation:
- Lite: the normal monthly page allowance for your plan
- Starter: unlimited page creation
- Scaler: unlimited page creation
There's also a short cooldown between page-generation requests made through MCP, starting around one minute. It can stretch longer for accounts generating a very high volume of pages by chat in a month. The cooldown helps prevent automated clients from sending unusually high volumes of requests. It isn't a sign of a performance problem.

Connected Shopify stores:

These store limits apply whether the store was connected through the dashboard or is simply being used through MCP. Remember, MCP can't add a new store connection itself.
Can PagePilot MCP Run an Entire Workflow?
Yes, when each step's tool is available. You can chain research, page building, pricing, images and publishing into one thread instead of separate tasks.

That second example matters. Chaining actions doesn't mean giving up review before anything goes live. You can ask PagePilot MCP to stop at any point in an AI ecommerce workflow.
